Question 1

Is Alternative High accurate enough for professional use?

Accepted Answer

The worksheets use the temperatures, constructions, and manufacturer figures you enter. The chimney step is a draught estimate from those figures. Annual figures multiply the design load by the hours you enter.

Question 2

How does billing work?

Accepted Answer

Every new account starts with a 5-day free trial. After that, pay by bank transfer using the account that matches your region or currency. Include your payment reference. We typically confirm payment within about 24 hours. We never store your bank details. Monthly is no commitment. A yearly contract billed monthly is 17% off with a 12-month lock-in. Pay yearly is 23% off in one transfer.

Question 3

What happens if I don’t pay after the trial?

Accepted Answer

The account becomes read-only so you can still see your work. Pay by bank transfer to restore full access. Unpaid accounts are suspended, and data may be removed after the grace period.

Question 4

Who can sign up?

Accepted Answer

Individual engineers, academic individuals (.edu email), academic institutions, and companies. Company owners upload business proof; institutions upload verification and use a .edu email.

Question 5

Can I use it on site?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It is web-based and responsive. Take notes on your phone and continue the same project on desktop.

Question 6

Do you support renewable modules?

Accepted Answer

Heat pumps and solar thermal integration are on the roadmap.

Question 7

Question 8

How do I contact you?

Question 10

What’s the difference between the billing options?

Accepted Answer

Monthly is full price with no commitment — cancel at the end of the paid month. A yearly contract is 17% off, billed monthly, with a 12-month commitment and no early cancellation. Pay yearly is 23% off in one bank transfer for the full year.

Question 11

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

Bank transfer only. Choose the receiving account that matches your region or currency to avoid fees, and always include your payment reference. We typically confirm payment within about 24 hours. We never store your bank details.

Question 12

Can I change plans later?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for monthly plans. Contact us or your workspace admin. A yearly contract cannot be cancelled or shortened during the 12-month term. Plan upgrades take effect after confirmation.

Question 13

Do you offer refunds?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer refunds within 14 days of your first confirmed subscription payment. See our Refund Policy for details.

Question 14

What calculations does Alternative High cover?

Accepted Answer

U-values for layered assemblies, room heat loss, radiator and underfloor sizing, pipe diameters and pressure drop, pump head, boiler capacity, chimney cross-section, and expansion vessel volume — in one connected workflow.

Question 15

Does Alternative High replace Excel for heating design?

Accepted Answer

Yes for the heating-design workflow. Inputs flow across modules, openings deduct from wall areas automatically, and you export a print-ready report instead of copying tables into Word.

Question 16

How are the calculations made?

Accepted Answer

You save design profiles for temperatures, ventilation inputs, surface resistances, and sizing margins. Users choose and document those criteria; Alternative High applies them transparently and consistently. Each project keeps a copied version. U-values come from the layers you enter. Room heat is a steady-state balance. Reports call the copied set user-defined criteria and say when a result is not final.

Question 17

Is there a desktop install?

Accepted Answer

No install. Alternative High runs in the browser on desktop and mobile so site notes and office calculations stay in the same project.
